ChangeSchool working with King’s Business School, King’s College London (KBS) recently led a month-long executive education programme for a delegation of 60 senior Egyptian Civil Servants across August and September 2019.
In the next year the Egyptian Government is moving the bulk of their Civil Service and their ministries to a new, purpose-built city just outside of Cairo. As part of that move, they want to apply contemporary standards of organisation leadership to the Egyptian bureaucracy. They need best in class civil servants. The naturally looked to King’s and ChangeSchool to provide the public sector expertise and Executive Education excellence to support their journey.
The Civil servants came from various ministries including Planning, Interior, Police, the Presidential Office, Petroleum, Transport, Health and Finance. These chosen delegates went through a careful selection process and were identified as the next generation of leaders to modernise Egypt and their roles as they lead the country towards the Egypt 2030 plan outcomes.
As part of this, KBS and ChangeSchool were tasked to
- Disseminate best practice on governance, driving innovation and human resource management.
- Work with the delegates to see how they can do their job differently
- Expose them to comparative and alternative ways of working from around the world
- Understand how government entities can deal with private sector.
- Show how to be a government in the digital age.
Using deep, world class expertise from King’s College Business School, knowledgeable practitioner guest speakers from the Cabinet Office, Ministry of Justice, Transport for London (TfL), The Mayor’s Office for Policing And Crime (MOPaC) and Southwark Borough Council amongst others, and outside expertise on public sector innovation and leading transformation from the ChangeSchool stable, ChangeSchool led and managed a 4 week programme that transformed the outlook and mindset of these senior leaders and left them equipped to lead the ambitions and necessary reform programmes underway in Egypt
Neil Marshall is the Development Director at ChangeSchool. He leads programmes on entrepreneurship, innovation and faculty development. He has coached teaching faculty from King’s College London, London Business School, Cranfield University, Cambridge Judge Business School and has delivered education programmes in 11 countries including the UK. He leads on ChangeSchool’s international partnerships across Georgia and Armenia. He holds an MBA from Cranfield University and a PGCE from Bristol University.
