City University, ChangeSchool and the University of Nairobi in £1.2m grant funding win

ChangeSchool and consortium partners win the British Council contract to lead the £1.2m grant funded Innovation of African Universities’ Centre of Excellence.

ChangeSchool London is delighted to announce that we are the selected providers of the Centre of Excellence in the £1.2m 18-month Innovation for African Universities (IAU) programme funded by the British Council, along with our consortium partners City, University of London and the University of Nairobi. This programme will strengthen the role of HEIs in African entrepreneurship ecosystems to create more jobs and business opportunities for young people.

By leveraging institutional partnerships between the UK and Ghana, Nigeria, Kenya and South Africa’s HEIs and entrepreneurial ecosystems, the IAU programme will create and implement 20 funded entrepreneurship projects in the next 15 months.

Neil Marshall, ChangeSchool Development Director, said,

“We are looking forward to leading work that draws on the expertise of more than 60 organisations across five countries to build international communities, share knowledge, and make a difference in lives and livelihoods across the continent.”

The programme builds on our experience of developing HEI entrepreneurial capacity working across five countries and six international HEI partnerships for the British Council Creative Spark programme in Azerbaijan, Armenia, Georgia, Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan. We will also draw upon our understanding of the systemic issues of developing entrepreneurial ecosystems from working with entrepreneurial  academics for the Royal Academy of Engineering’s Leadership in Innovations Fellowship programme across Egypt, Malaysia, Indonesia and Jordan.
